Judy Szablak is also the President and founder of Szablak Consulting and Best Agents Online, LLC, a firm that was established in September 2014. The company has a mission of promoting excellence amongst Realtors and top notch real estate services in Southern Connecticut and beyond.
Judy has a diverse professional history. She initially got involved in real estate while she was a college student, studying graphic design.
Judy got involved in the field of real estate after a chance encounter with a Realtor.
“He approached me and said ‘You should be in real estate.’ I was intrigued with the idea but I didn’t pursue it initially,” she explained. She continued pursuing her studies in graphic design. But a few months later, the man returned and offered to pay for her training and education if she sought to pursue a career in real estate. Judy decided to take up the offer — a decision that would set her on the path to success.
Right from the beginning, it was Judy’s commitment and go-go-go attitude that set her apart from all others. Without a car, she would walk to the real estate office each day for months until she’d saved up enough money to buy a brand new car. She remained with the firm, working in residential real estate for several years.
In 1988, Judy got her broker’s license and made the move to commercial real estate, which posed many new challenges that would prompt her to expand and perfect her skill set.
“Commercial real estate is unique. You couldn’t simply let the property promote itself on MLS. You had to work hard to market and sell the property. It was a wonderful opportunity to refine my marketing and sales skills,” Judy explained.
Judy’s commitment to closing the sale is one quality that sets her apart from other agents. In fact, she even took flying lessons in order to get her foot in the door with a new client base whom she knew could benefit from her services. She added, “I actually really enjoyed flying and took lessons for quite a while. It was incredible. I’d set out to pound the pavement that morning and I’d have never have guessed that I’d spend my afternoon learning how to fly!”
It was 1989 when Judy made the move to open her own real estate brokerage firm. This provided her with an opportunity to get back into residential real estate, perfecting her skills in condominium sales.
“I met a developer with a condo complex and I was hired to sell the units. So that’s precisely what I did! I was responsible for 10% of all of the condos that were sold in Bridgeport that year!” she explained.
After several years in business, Judy was approached by a representative from Prudential, who offered to buy out her brokerage if she joined their firm as a manager. She accepted the offer, sold her business and went to work with Prudential. After serving as a manager for a period of time, she found that she missed working with clients and actually selling properties, so she transitioned back into a sales position.
Judy worked her way into the number one position with the firm, as she had the top sales figures of all 60 agents. Around this time she also worked her way into the number three position for the entire state of Connecticut for customer satisfaction.
In 2000, Judy transitioned to Coldwell Banker where she quickly rose to the top before ultimately enrolling in a top agent training program. She then joined ReMax where she remained for over a decade.
In 2012, she re-joined Coldwell Banker, where she currently works today.
“I was in search of a professional environment, so I approached the best firm in the region and I was offered a job right away,” she said, adding, “I’m so blessed, as I have some really incredible clients. They make it so wonderful and rewarding.”
